Artificial Intelligence: do we call it IT or WHO? Are we ready to accept the change that will happen within our lifetime? That moment that's called the singularity when AI can start to think for itself?

What about animals? If they are able to talk back to us, do we still call them IT or do we start to refer to them as THEY?
